Hebburn Town FC is set for a transformation after plans were submitted to make use of a £2m government grant to expand the club.

The funding will support the Hornet's Community Hub Project and wider redevelopment.

Plans include a new FIFA Pro-certified artificial pitch, a second 3G training pitch, new floodlights and expanded stands.

Sean Hedley, managing director of Hedley Planning, said: "These are fantastic plans for a club which serves thousands of people in the local area and is woven into the fabric of the local community.

"This proposal is a collaboration with the Football Foundation, who will be delivering the 3G training pitch on site.
