CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – One person was displaced by a Friday house fire.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department (CRFD) responded to the 100 block of 12 th Street NE at around 4:48 pm Friday. Crews say they arrived at the scene to find the home filled with smoke. The fire was rapidly extinguished and immediate efforts were conducted to minimize the damage from flame, smoke, and water.

CRFD says the fire was quickly brought under control and crews remained on scene to ventilate the structure and remove damaged material. CRFD says the rear bedroom sustained heat, smoke, and water damage while there was moderate smoke damage to the rest of the house.

The adult male occupant of the home was not present at the time of the fire.
