DULLES, Va. — Engine power loss and a runway brush fire forced hundreds of passengers and more than a dozen crew aboard a United Airlines flight to make an emergency return to Washington Dulles International Airport on Saturday afternoon.

United Flight 803 was getting ready to fly to Tokyo from the Northern Virginia airport when the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said a fire started at around 12:20 p.m.

According to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy a piece of engine cover separated and caught fire, sparking the brush fire.

He says 275 passengers and 15 crew members were aboard the plane.
