SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - We are learning more about the woman burned in a violent acid attack just steps away from Savannah’s most iconic park.

Police say there is no threat to the public and they are increasing police presence around Forsyth Park.

However, the friends and family of Ashley Wasielewski worry that there’s no suspect in custody.

“It felt like a punch to the gut, it felt surreal, it was like a scene out of the netflix show,” said Karen Oddi.

Still stunned after news of Wednesday’s acid assault, Karen Oddi, a friend of Ashley Wasielewski, is asking the same questions as much of the public.

“I just don’t understand how this person can be so vicous. There has to be more to it,” said Oddi.
