An 18-year-old Central Washington University student is facing a felony charge of first-degree arson after he allegedly set a series of small fires in Dugmore Hall during Finals Week.

Brayden Robert Todd was arrested in his dorm room in Bouillon Hall on Tuesday.

CWU police were called to Dugmore Hall after a resident advisor smelled something burning and found burnt material in a trash can in the laundry room. Paper that was posted on a student’s dorm room door had been lit on fire, as well.

Another student told police Todd had also set multiple pieces of paper on fire inside an elevator in the residence hall.

Todd made his first appearance Wednesday in Kittitas County Superior Court and was arraigned for the Class A felony charge during the same hearing.
