Widespread snowfall totals of 1 to 5 inches are in the forecast for New Jersey from a winter storm that is expected to start tonight and continue into Sunday morning.
Precipitation will begin falling between 9 and 10 p.m. in the northern half of New Jersey and will spread south and east, according to the National Weather Service.
Most of the state should see snow falling by midnight or 1 a.m.
“The heaviest snow will definitely occur after midnight Saturday night,” the weather service said.
Snow could hold off until around 4 a.m. for areas along the southern Jersey Shore.
“This will likely start as some light rain or a rain/snow mix near and southeast of I-95 before changing to all snow,” the weather service said. “Snowfall intensity may increase for a time early Sunday morning.”
