LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Every year, the Salvation Army Angel Tree program provides Christmas gifts for thousands of children across the country, including Louisville.

Oftentimes, individuals head to their local mall and pull an angel off the tree. But one local organization is going the extra mile, helping hundreds of kids have a special Christmas: Frankie’s Family.

“I don’t want parents to have to make a choice, do I pay the electrical bill or do I give my kids a Christmas?” Frankie Hilbert, the founder of the organization, said.

Frankie’s Family was started back in 2016. Hilbert set out to give to the Angel Tree program.

“I’ve always been a person to get two or three angels off the Angel Tree, and was like, I got 10 days, could I raise $1,500 in 10 days?” he said. “I started a GoFun
