GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Beginning Sunday, the Humane Society of South Mississippi will be opening a shelter for vulnerable pets.
The shelter will be taking in animals between noon and four on Sunday.
Drop off will be at the Pet Resource Department right next to the adoption Center on 25th Avenue, by 27th Street.
Because most homeless shelters do not allow pets, the shelter gives unhoused people with pets a safe place to leave those animals during Sunday night’s cold snap.
All pets need to be picked up by five in the afternoon on Monday.
