Every day, police officers respond to reports of all sorts of events and nonevents, most of which never make the news. Here is a sampling of lesser-known — but no less noteworthy — incidents from police log books (a.k.a. blotters) in our communities.

SANTA’S HELPERS

At approximately 8:10 p.m. Nov. 25, Billerica police Officer Samuel Hawkes was on patrol when he noticed eight packages in the middle of a roadway behind Towne Plaza, the strip mall on Boston Road where Market Basket and other stores are located. Seeing that the parcels were supposed to go to Billerica addresses, Hawkes and Officer Matthew Irwin delivered the packages to their intended destinations and notified Amazon of the incident.
