LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -On Saturday, the City Rescue Mission and community members celebrated the nonprofit’s facility expansion during an open house showcasing phase two of the new building on West Kalamazoo Street.
Phase one was completed in August, and the building serves as the new single adult shelter and as the outreach drop-in center. Previously, the men’s shelter was on Michigan Avenue.
Randy Barton with the City Rescue Mission said the nonprofit enjoys holding open houses after expansions.
“So, we love opening up our doors for people to see what they’ve contributed to and sponsored and for them to see it’s going to good use and it’s actually truly meeting a need for food, shelter, and hope in the Lansing area,” said Barton.
