Right before his postgame press conference ended, Stephen F. Austin head football coach Colby Carthel gave shoutouts to Montana State head coach Brent Vigen and MSU athletic director Leon Costello.
“Y’all got something special here, and it was an honor to come up here and play,” Carthel said. “Do us one thing: beat them Griz next week.”
Sitting to Carthel’s right was SFA senior quarterback Sam Vidlak, who played for the Montana Grizzlies in 2023. As if MSU fans needed more reminders of what could come to Bozeman next week.
Neither Vigen nor two of his players, defensive end Kenneth Eiden IV and QB Justin Lamson, mentioned the Griz in their press conferences following their 44-28 win over seventh-seeded SFA (11-3) in the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs Friday night at Bobcat Stadium. T
