If the Komets' loss in the final seconds of Friday’s game against the Kansas City Mavericks didn’t sting enough, the Kalamazoo Wings found a way to pour salt in the wound Saturday.
After tying the game with just over four minutes remaining, the Komets lost 5-4 on a last-minute goal for the second time in two days when Wings forward Andre Ghantous scored with 27.3 seconds remaining.
“It’s been a weird one, a strange one,” Komets coach Jesse Kallechy said. “I’ve found different ways that I’ve never been a part of to lose some hockey games.”
A puck that was sent off the glass in the Komets end took an awkward bounce and wound up right in front of goaltender Nathan Day and Ghantous. Minutes earlier, Day found himself laid out after a collision between him, Wings forward Zach Okabe and Komet
