The Boston Red Sox could soon look to once again do business with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Boston and St. Louis have not only completed two trades that provided significant pitching additions to the former ( Sonny Gray was acquired in November, Steven Matz was acquired in July) over the last several months, but recently saw one veteran ( Dustin May ) elect to leave the former and sign with the latter.
The Athletic’s Katie Woo reported on another potential transaction on Saturday.
The Red Sox are believed to have “significant interest” in first baseman Willson Contreras, and while no deal is close, the connection between the two sides makes them both worth monitoring moving forward.
