A major report has exposed the appalling treatment suffered by LGBTQ+ people in South Gloucestershire – with campaigners calling it a “UK emergency”.
The 88-page study , led by the council and partner organisation The Diversity Trust, includes a total of 43 recommendations for improving lives.
LGBTQ+ advocates hailed it as “potentially groundbreaking and life-changing” for many marginalised people, both in the district and across the country.
The research report, called “Living Proud in South Gloucestershire: Understanding and improving the lives of LGBTQ+ communities”, was adopted by South Gloucestershire Council ’s cabinet at its meeting on Monday, December 8.
