David Dixon’s slam gave the Duquesne men’s basketball team a 71-69 lead with one minute, 53 seconds to go, but Nevada regrouped and took the lead for good in a 78-75 victory on Saturday night at Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nev.
Nevada’s Tayshawn Comer gave the Wolf Pack the lead with 1:16 on the clock, and the Wolf Pack made six free throws in six attempts down the stretch to seal the win.
Guard Tarence Guinyard led all scorers with 21 points for the Dukes (6-5), going 5 of 8 from the 3-point line. Jimmie Williams scored 14 points and Jakub Necas added 10 rebounds to go with seven points and four assists.
Comer scored 16 points and Peyton White added 12 for Nevada (8-3). Elijah Price added 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
