Christmas is a time where money is stretched tight - and benefits claimants will be more hard-up than most over winter. Thankfully, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has a string of bonuses available for people.

Over winter, there are Cold Weather Payments, Winter Fuel Payments, Warm Home Discounts and more. These payments are on top of regular benefits like Universal Credit, or the state pension.

The DWP is set to distribute special one-off payments, including sums of hundreds of pounds, to UK households that are in receipt of certain benefits. There are also other schemes that everyone should be aware of, which could provide assistance to the wider public.
