SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - A longtime employee of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office has passed away.

Former Deputy Lindell Eakins died on Friday, December 12 at the age of 76.

According to Scott County Sheriff Derick Wheetley, Eakins wore many hats during his long career, like working as a bailiff and a School Resource Officer at Thomas W. Kelly School in Benton, Missouri.

Sheriff Wheetley said Eakins had an infectious positive attitude and never met a stranger, always making everyone he met feel welcome, respected and appreciated.

“Rest easy, my friend. Thank you for your service, your kindness and your example,” said Sheriff Wheetley in a statement. “You will never be forgotten by your brothers and sisters at the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.”
