Community figureheads in East Staffordshire have demanded the resignation of two county councillors amidst accusations of racist social media posts.
The Deputy Mayor of East Staffordshire, who is the first black woman to serve as a councillor on the borough authority, discussed the effects of racism on herself and other ethnic minorities in the borough at Monday's full council meeting.
Here, two motions concerning county councillors Ian Cooper and Peter Mason were deliberated and backed.
Councillor Cooper, prior to his resignation announced on Tuesday (December 9), was the leader of Staffordshire County Council.
He now serves as an independent member of the county council following the revocation of his Reform UK membership.
