A day after Lionel Messi event in Kolkata turned into ugly chaos, the chief organiser of the event Satadru Dutta was denied bail and sent to 14-day police custody.

The soccer star’s trip to Kolkata ended with angry fans invading the pitch and throwing projectiles like chairs and bottles onto the pitch at Salt Lake Stadium after he made a short 20-minute appearance on the pitch while being flanked by over a hundred people, including security forces and VIPs.

Following the mess, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee apologised to Messi via X and ordered an enquiry commission. Dutta was also arrested from the airport by the Kolkata police.
