COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Several Michigan men’s basketball players were making pretzels at a mall in Ann Arbor as part of a toy drive when news broke of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore getting fired for an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.

Moore’s story took a darker turn later that night, with more information coming to light in the days since. He ended up jail and was arraigned Friday on a felony charge of third-degree home invasion and two misdemeanors .

Rather than let it become a distraction, the Michigan men’s basketball team wants to be a different kind of distraction.
