KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Chiefs’ postseason hopes ended in heartbreak Sunday, in more ways than one.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes left late in the fourth quarter after injuring his left knee. He needed help getting to the locker room.

Head coach Andy Reid told reporters after the game that Mahomes will undergo an MRI on Sunday or Monday to determine the extent of the damage.

“It didn’t look good,” Reid said. “I mean, you guys saw it.”

The Chiefs later confirmed through social media that Mahomes sustained a torn ACL and that he and the team are exploring surgical options.

Patrick also went to X, stating that ‘he will be back stronger than ever.’
