AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Saturday brought record heat to Central Texas. Camp Mabry reached 97°, passing the previous record of 94° set back in the 1940s.

Tonight, our cold front arrives, clearing skies and cooling temperatures to the 50s and 60s. Winds will gust up to 25 mph from the north.

Sunday will be cooler, with highs in the 70s and 80s. Our normal high temperature is 83°. Dew points will drop to the 20s and 30s by the afternoon hours.

Drier winds and an extreme drought will bring an elevated wildfire risk to parts of the KXAN viewing area.

Drier air is easier to cool down, and with a northeasterly breeze Sunday night, temperatures are forecast to drop to the 40s and 50s in Central Texas.
