BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Now that it is the middle of August, we are entering into the peak of hurricane season. The peak time frame is mid-August through mid-October. The peak date is September 10. Tropical activity has increased over the last couple of days as a couple of disturbances have developed in the Atlantic and one in the Gulf.
Are there concerns for Louisiana?
First, there are no immediate concerns for Louisiana or the Gulf Coast, but of course, we are still watching satellite imagery closely. The National Hurricane Center has given a disturbance in the northern Gulf a 0% chance of tropical development over the next two and seven days.
