CLEVELAND — The spotlight will shine bright on September 7 when the Mandel Jewish Community Center presents the ninth annual Shining Star CLE solo singing competition at Playhouse Square's Mimi Ohio Theater.
Ten finalists from across Northeast Ohio will take the stage at 6:30 p.m., competing for a total of $18,500 in college scholarships in what organizers describe as an American Idol-style competition that celebrates young talent while supporting community programs.
"We're proud to showcase the incredible talent of these young performers while supporting services that strengthen our youth and senior community," said Larry Mack, honorary trustee for life and founding supporter of the event.
The competition began with 160 auditions — one of the largest classes in the event's history
