CLEVELAND — When the Ohio Department of Transportation denied the Browns' request to build a new domed stadium in Brook Park, citing safety concerns for the nearby Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, the team was given a 30-day deadline to appeal.
That deadline was supposed to be Tuesday, Sept. 2. However, ODOT now says that deadline is no longer valid.
The saga began on Aug. 1, when ODOT's Office of Aviation sent a letter to the Browns confirming a decision to deny a permit request for the Brook Park stadium. The letter stated, in part, "The proposed structure exceeds the height limitations by 58 feet."
