MONROE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Two people have been arrested after a police chase involving a stolen car, according to Monroe Police.

Around 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, an officer with MPD's Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Unit spotted a stolen Volkswagen Jetta leaving a Walmart parking lot onto West Roosevelt Boulevard.

The officer tried to stop the car, but officials say the car quickly sped off. However, the driver lost control and crashed into a tree within seconds.

The driver, 29-year-old Chris Lamont Ardrey of Charlotte, is charged with: • Possession of a Stolen Vehicle • Felony Flee to Elude Arrest • Speeding
