WAILUKU, Maui (Island News) -- Emotions ran high in a Maui courtroom Wednesday as testimony continued in the murder case against Clembert Alii Kaneholani, the man accused of killing Maui Police Officer Suzanne O.

Shackled at the hands and feet, Kaneholani entered the courtroom as Officer O’s family and colleagues watched from the gallery. The courtroom was filled with officers in uniform and plain clothes, along with family members who spilled into an overflow room to watch the proceedings.

The judge first heard from caretaker Timujin Willems, who lives and works at the old Paia sugar mill where the deadly confrontation began. Willems described spotting a man with a flashlight on the property that night and realizing it was Kaneholani. He testified that Kaneholani pulled out two handguns
