HILO, Hawaii (Island News) – The Hawaii Police Department arrested a man for allegedly assaulting multiple people at an intersection in Kalapana over the weekend.

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, at approximately 9:10 p.m. officers responded to a report of a fight involving multiple people at the Seaview Lawn at the intersection of Mapunapuna Ave and Kalihikai St.

When officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old woman with a stab wound to her leg and a 21-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his abdomen.

Both the man and woman were taken to the Hilo Benioff Medical Center where it was reported that the man received serious injuries. The woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was later released, and the man is currently continuing to recover from his injuries.
