KANEOHE, Hawaii (Island News) – Investigators with the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) classified the cause of a major building fire in Kaneohe as incendiary.

The fire occurred on Wednesday night at approximately 10:57 p.m. at Kahuhipa St. in Kaneohe.

According to HFD Investigators, the fire originated near the front door where the HFD Accelerant Detection Canine produced multiple alerts for ignitable liquids.

HFD crews responded to the scene at 11:07 p.m. to find smoke coming from an abandoned warehouse. Firefighters extinguished the blaze at 11:08 p.m.

No injuries were reported for this incident.

The damage estimate for the fire was reported to be $50,000 and its contents.
