CITYWIDE — CLOSE ERIC ADAMS ally and former campaign aide Winnie Greco allegedly attempted to give a journalist for THE CITY at least $100 in cash during a meetup on Wednesday, THE CITY reports .

Greco reportedly asked to meet reporter Katie Honan following an Adams campaign event, then, at a grocery store, handed Honan a bag of potato chips that held a red envelope containing multiple bills. Honan attempted to return the money to Greco before bringing the potato chips and money to THE CITY’s editorial team, who contacted the NYC Department of Investigation.

Greco apologized in calls to THE CITY, before her attorney stated that the attempted transfer was a Chinese cultural friendship gesture. A spokesperson for the Adams campaign stated that Greco has, following the reports, been
