KUNIA, Hawaii (Island News) – An investigator with the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) is suspecting arson was involved in the recent wildfire incident that occurred in Kunia on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

According to police highlights, HFD investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set. The source of the fire could not be determined after HFD crews battled the fire.

As a result of the fire, officials closed off the roadway from Kunia Road and Anonui St. to Lyman Gate. Residents in the Kunia Camp were also evacuated.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
