HAMILTON TOWNSHIP — A Hammonton man suffered fatal injuries after he lost control of his vehicle, struck the Egg Harbor Toll Plaza and caught fire on the Atlantic City Expressway on Thursday night.
State Police responded to the plaza near milepost 17.6 and just east of the Farley Service Plaza at 7:58 p.m., the agency said Friday morning in a statement.
John Warlow, 36, was driving his Ford SUV in the westbound lane when he struck the toll booth and his vehicle became engulfed in flames. He died as a result of his injuries, State Police said.
Westbound travelers were diverted to the express lanes as crews worked to clear the scene.
The crash is under investigation.
