CHINATOWN, Hawaii (Island News) -- Chinatown cook Lathson Robert may never be the same again after losing vision in one eye and being severely burned in what authorities said was an unprovoked acid attack.
"It's not clear like he can't really see," said his sister Tancher. "Blurry. It's like blurry."
His sister is still in shock by the horrific assault shortly before midnight on Aug. 8 that left her baby brother in critical condition.
"I was devastated," she said. "He doesn't want to tell me the details because I have like a heart condition so he doesn't want to worry me that much. But just looking at him, I can tell that he's in pain."
Honolulu prosecutors charged Marquis Johnson with first-degree assault, accusing him of throwing acid on Lathson's face and body on North Hotel Street.
