In the Thursday, Aug. 21, edition of the Butler Eagle, we reported that more and more surgical procedures are happening at UPMC Passavant’s Cranberry Township campus.

According to hospital officials, the number of procedures performed at the Cranberry location is inching its way up. In 2023, the campus performed 3,203 procedures. This year, the hospital system anticipates reaching 3,400 procedures in Cranberry by the end of the year. So far, 1,982 procedures have been performed during 2025.

Independence Health System’s Butler Memorial Hospital similarly benefits Butler County.

The presence of both health systems with hospitals that can offer care closer to home for Butler County residents is a win for the community.
