WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A man originally charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a 51-year-old man in southeast Wichita earlier this year was sentenced on Friday.

Judge William Woolley sentenced William Ball to 55 months in prison and 36-month post-release supervision.

Ball pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of Brian Edwards in March. Ball was 24 at the time of the stabbing.

Officers were called on March 10 to the 4100 block of E. Whitney Lane, near Pawnee and George Washington Boulevard. When they arrived arrived, Edwards had suffering from a stab wound to his upper body.
