DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) -- A young Dothan woman whose baby died after Dothan investigators claimed she placed him in a dumpster is asking to be granted the chance at freedom before her eventual trial.

Jakayla Williams will go before Judge Henry Binford on Wednesday, September 24, for a bond hearing.

Through her attorneys, Williams, 20, filed a motion asking that Judge Binford set a $50,000 bond. She is currently being held in the Houston County Jail with no bond and is facing one count of capital murder.

Bonds are typically not granted in capital cases, but Williams and her attorneys say she is not a flight risk and has no record of any criminal offenses, not even a speeding ticket.

"For all purposes, the Defendant (Williams) had been a normal teenager attending and graduating high school,"
