An explosion in Federal Way that does not appear to be accidental occurred the morning of Aug. 22, destroying a vehicle and causing other damage.

According to Federal Way Police Department Deputy Chief Casey Jones, at about 3:09 a.m. Aug. 22, police and fire responded to reports of an explosion in the 2000 block of South 308th Street. According to Jones, responders located a destroyed vehicle with evidence indicating an explosion as the cause.

Jones said that nearby homes and vehicles also were damaged, but no injuries were reported due to the explosion. Jones said the explosion does not appear to be accidental.
