KUNIA, Hawaii (Island News) -- After initiating an arson investigation into the Kunia wildfires, police arrested a man for allegedly starting the fire on Saturday .

Honolulu Police Department officers were dispatched to a fire call in the area of Kunia Road and Leia Street on Saturday at 11 a.m. A Honolulu Fire Department investigator looked into this wildfire and determined it was intentionally set.

A man was seen fleeing the scene in a gold Dodge Ram pickup truck with blue pinstripes, but just after 2 p.m. his vehicle was located near the area of a second fire that was reported. HPD identified and arrested the 70-year-old man for first-degree arson.

The suspect’s charges in this case are pending. This arson investigation remains ongoing.
