POWNAL, VT. (WWLP) - A North Adams man was arrested in Vermont in connection with driving 90 mph in a posted 50 mph zone.

Vermont State Police said that last Thursday, August 21, at approximately 11:49 p.m., troopers were in Pownal conducting traffic enforcement on Route 7. A vehicle was observed traveling southbound at 90 mph in a posted 50 mph, and the troopers conducted a traffic stop.

The driver of the car was identified as 20-year-old Sean Mullen of North Adams, Mass. He was issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for speeding, fining him $599.

Mullen was charged with Negligent Operation and is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on October 20.
