BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — Belmont County could have a new public playground in its future.
Retired Sheriff David Lucas, who founded the county's dog park, is now pursuing a grant to build a state-of-the-art playground for kids and families.
He said the county commissioners have already approved the project to be built at Fox Shannon Park.
Hopefully, we get good reviews and we get the grant. And then down the road, we'll be starting on the playground. And if it turns out anything like the dog park, it'll be beautiful for our families and residents of Belmont County to come out here to play.”
He says building a playground to meet current safety standards is expensive and would require fundraising.
They are pursuing a Nature-Works grant through the Ohio Department of Natural Resource
