H igley Unified students were handed override election flyers by staffers who told them to distribute them at Higley High School’s curriculum night, apparently in violation of state law.

State law prohibits campaigning and electioneering by students.

One student said their teacher gave them the flyers and instructed them to tell all parents, “This must pass.”

The district said the students were volunteers on campus, helping to direct parents to classrooms.

According to the district, students were asked by members of the front office to distribute the cards, but were not instructed to tell parents to vote yes.
