Maricopa’s most hated stretch of pavement delivered another round of chaos Saturday afternoon, this time courtesy of a hit-and-run that was caught on camera.
A 30-second clip sent to InMaricopa by reader Jessica White shows what appears to be a dark Hyundai CRV merging into the left-turn lane on southbound State Route 347 at Cement Plant Road. Instead of turning, the SUV continues straight onto the shoulder, slams into a dark sedan in the left lane, then slips in behind it as if nothing happened.
The sedan driver starts to pull over but thinks better of it when the CRV just keeps driving. End scene.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety says they didn’t get any reports of a hit-and-run that day. Which doesn’t mean it didn’t happen — it just means nobody bothered to call it in.
