Call it a dark remix of Up on the Housetop . Maricopa police say their rooftop visitor didn’t have a joyous sack of toys, but rather an active arrest warrant for a probation violation.

Officers rolled up to a home on Costa Brava Avenue around 6 a.m. for what started as a routine welfare check. Instead, they found 33-year-old convicted felon Rashawn Jamal Stewart perched on top of the house in Alterra. Police coaxed him down and booked him into the Pinal County jail in Florence.

It’s not Stewart’s first run-in with the law. A Phoenix jury convicted him in July 2024 on drug and intimidation charges after seeing images of cocaine and an unregistered pistol. He was found guilty of narcotics possession, paraphernalia and misdemeanor intimidation.
