UPTOWN — The city is set to complete a bike path this year to connect the Lakefront Trail to the North Shore Channel Trail through Uptown.

The Winnemac Avenue Neighborhood Greenway will be an about 2.5-mile bike route connecting the two major trails. It will also provide a bike-friendly route from each trail to destinations like Winnemac Park, Andersonville’s Clark Street and the Asia on Argyle corridor, according to the city.

Much of the route is already finished except about 1 mile between Damen Avenue and Broadway through Ravenswood and Uptown, according to the city.

There is not an exact timeline for that portion, but the project is on track to be completed this year, said Erica Schroeder, a spokesperson for the city’s transportation department. Paint has already been placed on part
