CHATHAM — Six development teams will transform dozens of vacant land parcels across the South Side into multi-unit housing developments as part of an ongoing program to revitalize disinvested neighborhoods and create affordable paths to home ownership.

Under the city’s Missing Middle Infill Housing Initiative, 30 new buildings ranging from townhomes to six-flats will replace city-owned vacant lots in Chatham, South Chicago and Morgan Park. The $39.4 million project is estimated to bring 108 market-rate units to South Side neighborhoods overall, city officials announced last week.
