QUINCY (WGEM) - The Quincy Police Department now has more resources to fight crime in an area they described as challenging.

Cameras have been installed at Quincy’s Amtrak station to deter and address criminal activity.

About a month ago, Quincy resident Nancy Waters had quite the shock. She said her car that she parked at the Quincy Amtrak station was gone.

“Two phenomenal Quincy Police officers came and they took my statement,” Waters said. “And, we looked around the train station and realized there were no cameras. We thought that was kind of bizarre.”

Soon after, Illinois State Police informed Waters they found her car in Champaign.

“Nothing was taken, and it wasn’t dented,” Waters said. “Just two-thirds left of a tank of gas.”
