WATERBURY, Conn. — The state is one step closer to narrowing down which project to pursue in replacing what was once a "modern engineering marvel," the "Mixmaster" in Waterbury .

The Connecticut Dept. of Transportation is moving forward with further evaluating two possible plans that would improve the Interstate 84 and Route 8 interchange in Waterbury: a Modern Crossover Interchange and the Naugatuck River Shift.
