WATERFORD, Conn. — A body was discovered in the Long Island Sound off the coastline of Waterford Tuesday.

Waterford police said they responded at 1:02 p.m., along with the town's fire department, the Waterford Ambulance Service and the U.S. Coast Guard, after receiving a report of the body found.

Arriving first responders found the body in the water. Investigators have not identified the person at this time.

Waterford police and investigators from the New London State's Attorney's Office are working with the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine what led to the person's death.
