ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Officials continue to investigate what caused a house explosion in North St. Louis County. The explosion left three homes leveled, over 20 more damaged, and injured several people.

First Alert 4 spoke with one of the victims whose home exploded on Monday morning, Shel King. He’s also one of the people who was taken to the hospital for injuries.

King said he was asleep in bed when he heard a boom.

“It was like the whole house collapsed on top of me,” recalled King.

He told First Alert 4 that he first believed a car had crashed into his home.
