The Kenai Central High School (KCHS) marching band will compete in the Bands of America Grand National Championships, the largest nationwide marching band competition in the world. The competition will be held in mid-November at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“We’re excited because this is the first time in 10 years that an Alaska band has gone and only the second time an Alaska band has ever gone,” said Band Director Christian Stephanos.

They will be competing against 119 bands across the U.S.

The marching band, nearly composed of 35 KCHS high schoolers, has been preparing for the championships since last year with fundraising.
